The United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child in the case of refugee children

This Bachelor thesis addresses the issue of the basic human rights of Refugee Children guaranteed to every child by UN Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted in 1989. The thesis describes the processes and situations in which a Refugee Child who is accompanied by family members or who is an Unaccompanied Minor goes through during the proceeding of International Protection in the European countries. The thesis focuses only on the articles of Convention that are applicable to crucial problems in the current situation of Refugee Children.
Czech migration law within the context of EU law

The goal of this diploma thesis is to define, analyze and evaluate the most relevant areas related to the topic of European migration law and politics. Although the subject is quite broad, I try to focus on legal migration. Free movement of EU citizens could not be left out, however I concentrate mainly on position of migrating three country nationals within the EU. I compare the Czech legal system against the European legal system. The thesis has been divided into four chapters, which are further subdivided. In the first chapter the thesis brings a brief definition of the concept of migration in general, including a chronological historical excursion of the European norms connected to the migration law and a description of migration law, politics and the necessity of a suitable integration approach. The second chapter is devoted to create a characterization of the European migration legislation, competences in the field and a definition of fundamental human rights standards. This section also deals with theoretical and practical issues of European citizenship and the associated right of free movement. The legal status of third-country nationals in the EU

This thesis deals with the legal status of third country nationals in the EU. It focuses on the legal status of long-term residents and the right to family reunification. Particular parts of the thesis analyze these topics in relation to European law, discuss the rights and obligations of third-country nationals, which are contained in the relevant directives, and assess the impact of these directives. The last part is concerned with the issue of foreigners in the Czech Republic, it solves the matter of residency rights of foreigners and implementation of directives on the long-term residents status and the right to family reunification in the Czech legal order.
